NEW ARTICLE - Consultation on full fibre internet for social housing residents - Have your say

Hackney Council is seeking the views of its tenants and leaseholders regarding work to install full fibre internet to social housing. The consultation asks residents for their views on the proposals to roll out full fibre, community benefits that could come as a result of installing full fibre, and barriers to accessing the internet. Views collected will shape the plans the Council takes forward.

STILL TIME TO TAKE PART - Research into access and inclusion at Hackney's Leisure Centres - Register for focus groups

Image result for clissold leisure centre

Hackney Council has seven leisure centres* operated by Better Leisure. We want to ensure that local people get the most out of our leisure centres. For this reason we are organising three focus groups to find out more about who uses our leisure centres, who doesn't and what might encourage people to use them more.

There will be focus groups for people who:

* Never or very rarely use our leisure centres; * Use our leisure centres more regularly and/or have a membership.

Please register your interest by going to the Activity List on the home page and select "Leisure Centre focus group". If selected to take part, you will receive a free token to use at any of the leisure centres. If you are already a member of a gym, then you could give this token to a family member or friend to encourage them to join a leisure centre.

After confirming whether you can attend the focus group on the specific date, we will ask you some questions about yourself, although it is not compulsory to answer these questions, but your answers will help us ensure we speak to a cross section of the local community.

Closing date for registration has been extended to Thursday 21 November 2019 @ 12pm.

*Hackney Council's seven leisure centres are:

- Clissold Leisure Centre - Britannia Leisure Centre - King's Hall Leisure Centre - London Fields Lido - Hackney Marshes Playing Fields - Queensbridge Sports and Leisure Centre - The West Reservoir Centre

Please register your interest by going to the Activity List on the home page and select "Ageing well focus group". If selected to take part, you will receive a £20 Love2Shop voucher for your time.

Closing date for registration has been extended to Thursday 21 November 2019 @ 12pm.

Fortnightly waste collections Consultation - Have your say

The Council are consulting on reducing the frequency of non-recyclable waste collections from every week to every two weeks at street-level properties (generally houses, or houses that have been converted into flats, which have green sack recycling services) in Hackney.

This will not affect flats above shops or properties with communal bins, typically including estates and new build blocks. These proposals will not affect recycling or food waste, which will continue to be collected every week.
